GIRL TO GIRL · YOUR PRIVACY

Privacy policy

Girl To Girl works on your device. There’s no account to create, no advertising, and no server collecting the letters you read or keep.

1. About this policy

This policy explains how the Girl To Girl mobile app and this promotional website handle information. Girl To Girl is developed and provided by Irina Kogai. You can reach us at story@createdbyira.com.

The app’s letters are bundled with the app. Reading, keeping letters, and preparing reminders work offline. The current app has no accounts, backend, cloud sync, advertising, analytics, tracking identifiers, or automatic crash-reporting service. We do not sell your personal information.

2. What stays on your device

The app stores a small local database so it can give you a daily letter and remember your choices. It contains:

  • The bundled letters, daily assignments, and reading history used to manage the letter rotation.
  • The letters you keep, along with when you saved them.
  • Your onboarding progress, reminder preferences, and chosen reminder times.
  • A locally generated random seed and scheduling records used to choose letters and reminder messages.

This information is used for those app features and is not sent to us. The app uses your device’s date and time to choose the day’s letter and schedule reminders; it does not use your geographic location.

There is no sign-up, and the app does not ask for your name, email address, contacts, location, microphone, or camera. It does not read your photo library.

3. Reminders, widgets & Photos

Reminders. Notifications are optional and off until you choose to enable them. The operating system delivers locally scheduled messages. The app does not register you for remote push notifications. You can change reminder times or turn reminders off in the app, and revoke notification permission in your device settings.

Widgets. Adding a widget lets your device display a letter on its home screen. The app and widget share the letter text and bundled artwork through local storage on the same device. Removing the widget stops displaying that letter on your home screen.

Photos. Choosing “Save image” creates a picture of a letter and requests only the permission needed to add it to Photos. Sharing directly does not require Photos access. You can revoke Photos permission in your device settings. A saved image is then governed by your own Photos and cloud-photo settings.

4. Sharing a letter

When you choose to pass a letter on, the app creates a PNG image on your device and opens the system share sheet. You decide which app or person receives it. Girl To Girl does not upload the image to a server, access your contacts, or record the recipient.

The app you choose to receive the image handles it under its own privacy policy. Copies sent to another person or saved outside Girl To Girl are not deleted when you remove a letter from your keepsakes or uninstall the app.

5. Keeping & deleting data

Your local history, kept letters, and preferences remain on your device while the app is installed. You can remove individual letters from your saved notes. To remove the app’s private data, delete the app from your device; on Android, you can also clear its storage in system settings. On iOS, choose “Delete App,” since “Offload App” keeps its documents and data.

Android app backup is disabled, and the app’s note database is configured to be excluded from iOS cloud backup. Girl To Girl does not provide its own backup or recovery service. A new installation starts a new local letter history.

Generated sharing images are kept temporarily in the app’s private cache so another app can finish reading them. On a later image export, Girl To Girl cleans up generated cache images more than two days old. Your operating system may clear cached files sooner. Images you deliberately save to Photos must be deleted separately in Photos.

We cannot see, retrieve, or remotely delete the database on your device.

6. Using this website

This website does not use advertising trackers, analytics tools, cookies, account forms, or a newsletter signup. Its fonts, artwork, and 3D assets are served with the website.

Loading a website still sends ordinary connection information to its hosting provider, such as your IP address, browser request details, requested page, and request time. That information may be processed or logged to deliver the site and keep it secure. Log retention depends on the hosting service and its configuration. Website requests are not connected to your app’s local letter history.

Following an App Store, Google Play, or other external link takes you to a service with its own privacy practices.

7. Contact & your choices

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever information you choose to include. We use that information to reply and handle your request, and keep it only as long as needed for that purpose or applicable legal obligations. Please avoid sending sensitive information that is not needed for your question.

For privacy questions, or to ask about or request deletion of correspondence you have sent us, contact Irina Kogai at story@createdbyira.com. Your rights may depend on where you live. This does not affect the privacy rights available to you under applicable law.

For data that stays solely in the app, the device controls described above let you manage it directly. Turning off reminders, declining Photos permission, or removing a widget does not stop you from reading your letters.

8. Children’s privacy

The app does not ask for a date of birth or collect personal information through an account or profile. If a child has sent personal information to our contact email, a parent or guardian can contact us to ask for its deletion.

9. Policy updates

If the app or website’s privacy practices change, we will update this page and its date. New features that need permission will explain what they need before asking you to allow it.
